Children spend more time watching television than in any other activity except sleep. - Huston and Wright, University of Kansas. "Television and Socialization of Young Children." Source
V.I.P.s is a documentary film that profiles minority professionals who achieved their dreams of success through hard work and the pursuit of higher education despite their troubled upbringings (single-parent homes, poverty, violent inner-city neighborhoods, etc.). Society dictates that these young professionals shouldn't have succeeded, but their testimonials prove otherwise. V.I.P.s targets minority youth, specifically inner-city youth, as the film demonstrates the limitless possibilities guaranteed by self-motivation, hard work & education. Furthermore, V.I.P.s dispels the illusion of overnight success perpetuated in popular culture by mainstream media.
The completion of this groundbreaking project is dependent upon securing the necessary funding for production costs. Due to the current poor economic climate many grant programs that are the lifeline for documentary filmmaking have been suspended indefinitely. The filmmakers need your monetary support in order to complete this important film. No contribution is too small. Thank you in advance for your support.
